This is a great question, because, I bought a suet feeder, filled it and hung it on my tree, the thing is nearly melted now and not a single bird has eaten from it! My little feelings have been hurt by the birdie community. So yes I used to feed the birds, but now they can go to my neighbors. hmpf

A pet food store will advise you because it depends on the kind of birds you are wanting to feed &/or attract. But you really should not feed them very often because they often become dependent and then dont learn proper methods of obtaining their own food if you were to stop feeding them. A good way to attract or keep wild birds in your garden is to plant flowers and trees that provide them with a source of food. Then they will be feeding themselves natuarally and you will have the pleasure of their company :-)

We feed the birds at my house.
Go to any feed supply store or wal-mart, Lowes etc. They have different types of bird seed there in different quantities. The type of bird seed you buy depends what type of birds you wish to feed. The bags usually say what type of seed it is and which particular type of bird it will attract. It is a good idea to buy a large bag of seed because you might be surprised how fast the birds wil consume it once they learn where it is at.

I genuinely have been feeding backyard birds for years yet am accountable approximately it as a surplus of nutrition ought to motivate vermin and likewise get rotten and harm the birds. Get squirrel evidence feeders as this could deter them from the feeders and much less mess would be created below. do no longer top off the feeders till all dropped seed has been cleared. have relaxing and ensure to maintain your digicam nearby.
