go to techsmith.com, them download camtasia studio.it is a screen capture software like the other guy said.
or, when playing video, right click it, click properties. the dialog box opens up, and it will have a big link. the last part of the link will be an extension, like .htm. remove that .htm or other extension. then, the last part will be like .wmv, or .avi, which is the movie. copy it and paste it into the address bar. at most times, your browser will tell you to run or save it. if this doesn't work, download camtasia studio, which doesnt require a webcam. just draw a rectangle on the screen with your mouse, and it will capture anything that moves or satnds still within it.

what kind of video? is it flash video (swf or flv), quicktime (.mov of .mp4), real video (.rm, .ram), or windows media (.wmv, .asx, .asf)?
For flash videos, they sometimes download into your temporary internet files, as do some quicktime videos. To find them, go to tools> internet options> settings> view files. Sort by size (a video file will be one of the largest ones, trust me) or type if you want, but size is easier.

You will want SUPER freeware video encoder and VLC media player.

I doubt you'll have it so easy as finding it on your PC. you'll have to find the stream URL*, play it in VLC, and go to file> wizard and save without transcoding. Then transcode it to whatever you want on SUPER (SUPER does .flv files also). Supposedly SUPER can download streams, but to the best of my knowledge, it doesn't.

*You're probably wondering how the heck to find the URL of an embedded video. (You could buy URL helper and HiDownload, then you can download them and skip all of this stuff.) View the source of the webpage. You NEED to know what type of video it is so you can know what extention to search for in notepad. Hit CTRL+F to search and type in the appropriate file extention for the type of file (listed in the first paragraph). This will be the last part of the URL. (ie. rstp://awigo.wiu.net/si/aiwaj.mov), so highlight the whole URL, copy it into VLC, then save it to the hard drive. If it's realmedia, i have no clue what to do unless you use HiDownload download manager.

If the stream has too much javascript, is embedded in flash, and/or is DRM protected, give up and find the same video somewhere else. It's not worth it to waste time trying to find it.

Note: be careful of others' copyrights of the work, though. i don't know if saving a copyrighted stream is bad or not
