You're probably old enough for Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte; the version I own is just over 300 pages and takes me about a full day to read. The Awakening by Kate Chopin is also a good and short book--about 150 pages. F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is pretty short too, but I personally hated it and wouldn't waste my time reading it if I didn't have to. Have you thought about reading the Harry Potter series? The first few books are short and sweet and hit about the right reading level. Good luck.

A very short book would be Of Mice and Men. It's appropriate for the freshman level.
Harry Potter is quick as well, up to the 4th book thereabouts. Also, if you like Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl is a good book for you.
Have fun!

The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad .A short but absolutely brilliant read.A fictitious story that use real events (The Greenwich bomb outrage) with really strong characters .It's a perfect book for students to use for college and it's a book you will come back to again many times after your college days .

The Pearl by John Steinbeck is an excellent novella for your age. It has a great plot, strong characters, symbolism...and your teacher will love that it is by Steinbeck. It's very brief..maybe 110 pages in a small page format. It's the story of very poor natives south of the border whose child gets stung by a scorpion. They must find a pearl in order to pay for a doctor. The value of the pearl is so great that it changes their lives and their fate.

Here's one that I think you will enjoy and appropriate for the season. It's Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. It's short (177 pages) and once started, hard to put down. Regardless of what you choose, please keep reading.
