why dont some parents let their children have a myspace?Why do they think its so bad?

because 12 yr old girls or boys hook up with 43 yr old pedophiles and then they find their dead sexually molested bodies in a van down by the river.

Oh heavens I could go on for hours on why I think myspace is bad. But that is just personal opinion. However if you look in the news, how many grown men have used myspace to prowl on children? How many ppl have used myspace as a way to post threats to anyone and everyone? How many times a week do you hear negative things in the news about myspace and how some child is in danger, trouble, or potential predator bait because of the mess they put on that site?
Yes it is a good place for someone to meet new ppl, however with better monitoring from parents, and the like, then I don't think some of these kids would get in as much trouble as they do and they would be safe from ppl trying to find and do harm to them.

The old saying... "there's always one bad apple in the bunch"
There has been some incidents that have occurred concerning myspace that has made some parents leery... it's sad young people can't have a safe place to go and express themselves without parental monitoring... there's always freaks out there that do things that are out of line... then the News peolpe get a hold of the issues... the parents in turn watch the news... all of a sudden it's "OMG"... Has you watched the NBC... Dateline program and they mention myspace a lot... I don't think myspace is bad...I think it's the internet in general... people need to stop bashing myspace... it's the freak that abuse it... as parents... it's their responsibility to monitor the kids... and the kids need to prove to their parents that they can be trusted... My point is myspace is all good... it's the freaks you have to watch or for....

Because most kids these days do not know what is giving out too much information. A smart person can locate where you are by just your name, your phone number, and height/weight. They don't even need a picture of you.
Most people blog on their daily activities on myspace, and after a while, if someone was stalking the person, they can find out where they are at what times and then find them.
It's also bad because it's a waste of time and kids should be doing constructive things such as studying and learning useful topics to benefit the world.

A lot of times is because some people on myspace are bad. Like 50 years old trying to find a good 14 year old or something to molest. Plus people say really horrible things to kids on myspace.

It's not that MySpace is bad, it's the people on it. Some of them don't have the best of intentions.
We've all seen the many "horror" stories about some things that happen, so of course parents worry.

Some parents are worried and rightly so. unfortunately the world is full of predators, and a lot of the predators especially want to hurt children. The internet, and especially myspace type forums give predators a virtual gold mine of information, age, address, school etc... it allows them to easily make up anything and falsely befriend children. And while many people who use my space are smart enough to know better, parents would much rather be safe than sorry with their children.

Chatting corrupted me one so bad that i literally went into withdrawl symptoms when my mother made me stop. I used to have the addiction so bad that if i wasn't on the computer i was sleeping. I almost never ate. These are the symptoms that myspace did to me.

Too much personal info that is too easy to access, undesirable advertisements, and startling true stories concerning members of Myspace being tracked, disappearing, etc.

because there are some sicko's out there (online predators) that can take advantage of some unknowing child, and also its to monitor who is contacting their children. there are probably a ton of kidnappings related to kids using myspace
