no assumptions, i've answered and asked in this category and that doesn't necessarily make me anything other than a person with a question or an answer. unless someone makes a clear statement about themselves, straight or gay, christian or atheist, i am not really going to try to look deeper into it.

I assume you might not be straight or perhaps you have a relative or close friend who is not straight. Beyond that, I don't really know for sure unless you tell us outright or you give us a hint.
Some people come in here to bash gay or bi people. Others just come in here out of curiosity or just to get the two points for answering a question.
Sometimes too we can't tell who really is gay or not because people might ask questions you would assume a gay person would not ask -- something that might be construed as baiting gay people, for example, or gay bashing. Such questions (and answers) might come from gay people themselves, perhaps bored with the site or whatever.
At times, I like to think this is a very supportive forum for LGBT folks and their supporters, but many times it is not -- there are some nasty characters out there in cyberland -- and not all of them are straight either.
You are most welcome here.

Heh, I used to belong to a club back when I was in college. (So I never even finished a semester...meh *shrugging shoulders*) It was for gays, lesbians, bi-s, and anyone else who wanted to be in the club. Yep, I was the token straight girl. Hell, I was already friends with them all.
I hate when people assume that I must be a 'dyke' because of my haircut or because I don't wear miniskirts in Las Vegas. I hate being called 'sir' because people don't see a female who doesn't wear make-up, but does wear pants as feminine enough to REALLY be a woman.
I don't assume anything about anyone in this topic. I'd be a hypocrite if I did. I just go by the question and answer it if I want.

Well, don't ever assume homophobes are straight.
Anybody who is hating is in a great deal of pain. This is a good lab for learning to control your anger and for reaching out to someone who may appear vicious, but really needs some therapy:)
The majority are probably themselves LGBT, but also straights who are curious about "Society & Culture">"Cultures & Groups".
I enjoy reading well-done conservative columns, although I only partially agree with their points. Good to know what other people are thinking, or say they are thinking.

I don't. I don't assume anything about anyone's sexuality. Just because this section is LGBT doesn't mean everyone here has to be les, gay, bi, or trans. However, I do assume everyone to be a respectable human being, and I guess that is where I make my wrong turn.

make me a shadow of your peace....where there is hatred let me bring your love....to be understood and to understand...and in dying we are born to eternal life. most of that lil hymn is missing, but these parts speak volumes. i don't assume anything about anyone. i listen with an open mind and an open heart, and if i feel i can enlighten someone with my knowledge and experience, then i'm happy to do so. no, i'm not a lesbian, nor bisexual, but i am a very sensual person. if a woman is pretty or sexy, i realize that, and if i am not alone, i'll comment to the fact, usually saying, "i wish i looked like that!" i love men. i love all men. men are sexy, exciting and i thank god that i can enjoy their company, yet i am very deeply in love with my husband. nobody compares to him in any way. so there's your answer from a quite heterosexual woman who can appreciate the human form yet remain in control and enjoy the love and passion of her husband. good luck!

There is no reason for someone who is not either LGBT or a supporter of LGBTs to be here. I am an Atheist, I dont go over to the "Religion & Spirituality" room to harass folks there. I expect the same courtesy.

Nope, I only assume the intelligence of the question itself.
Unless someone states they are lebian, gay, bisexual or trans...you can't tell...even then you don't know if they are being honest or not.
There are so many trolls, clones, liars and posers here that it's nearly impossible to tell.
Because of this, this catagory has become hunting grounds for those types of people. Regardless of their sexuality.

I assume that you are either gay, bi, or have someone close to you that is. This category is good if some idiots would get off it in order to help others with serious questions and not bash everyone.
