I like Minnesota and here is why

Minnesota has more skill
Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra are among the most exciting players in the league. Demitra is one of 6 players who have averaged a point a game since the 1999-2000 season. Chris Drury has averaged .727 ppg in his career, that is the leader among all Sabres. Demitra has averaged .95 and Gaborik has averaged 0.77 among injuries.
Minnesota players have combined to average .187 gpg in the career, Buffalo players only .149
Minnesota players have averaged .310 assists per game in their careers, Buffalo players onlu .295
Minnesota players are averaging .4969 points per game in their career, Buffalo players, only .444
Minnesota goaltenders have a career 2.45 GAA, Buffalo Goaltenders have combined for 2.58

Minnesota has more Experience
After last night, Minnesota's players had played 6872 NHL games, compared to Buffalo's 5980. Buffalo only has 3 players who have played more than 500 NHL games (Numminen, Spacek, and Drury) while Minnesota has 5 (Rolston, Demitra, Parrish, Walz, and Carney) .
Minnesota players have combined to make it to 6 Stanley Cup Finals, winning 2 (Rolston - 95, Skoula - 01)
Buffalo players have combined for 4 Stanley Cup finals and 1 ring (Drury - 01)

Minnesota has better coaching

I think both teams so far are looking excellent, but I would have to say that the Sabres are a much more threatening team. In all of their games so far they have come back in the final period mostly and forced the shootout, not something most teams would be able to do. I also think that the number of goals the Sabres have allowed in needs explanation, some of those were just flukes that you couldn't believe while watching. I think the Sabres have the potential to remain undefeated longer not only because of the excellent leadership they have from players like Drury and Briere, but the amazing goal tending by Biron and Miller that most teams in the NHL can't come close to compairing to. I wish both teams the best of luck, but I think the Sabres will have the potential of going the farthest.

I like Minnesota as the better team. They have more experience than the Buffalo Sabres (contrary to the prior poster - the current Minnesota roster has played 470 more NHL games than the current Buffalo Sabres roster). The 1-2 punch that is provided by Gaborik and Demitra is as potent as any combination in the league and Brian Rolston complements the scoring well. If Tim Connolly were healthy then Buffalo would have a similar offensive pop with Briere, Drury, and Afinogenov but none of those players have the skill level of either Gaborik or Demitra. Both teams have no-name defences with several journeyman (Minnesota with KIm Johnsson, Keith Carney and Martin Skoula - Buffalo has Jaroslav Spacek and Teppo Numminen) and in net, I would have to give the edge to Buffalo right now. Manny Fernandez has had a great career and his numbers over time are better than both Miller and Biron, but Minnesota has an unproven back-up.

When the season's over, I expect both of these teams to make the playoffs but I don;t think either team will be in the Stanley Cup Final

At this point, the Sabres are the better team and have more potential than the Wild. It is true that the Sabres do not have a big name sniper or 100+pt player, but they had the most 20goal scores last year. You can't focus your D on any given player because there are too many that can hurt you. If you look at their box score, other than Drury, it is someone different every night stepping up and making a big play.
Also, Ryan Miller is coming into his own. Last year was his first year as a NHL starting net minder. The lockout year helped him as he lead the Rochester Amerks to the finals and posted 41 wins.
The Wild are good, but the Sabres are a TEAM.

I would say the Sabres, unfortunately I have not seen much of the Wild but that Sabres team is the fastest team that I have ever seen in the ten years I've followed hockey. With the new rules to keep the game open the Sabres are really going to be hard to stop. Honestly I feel that if they get good goaltending they may win the cup.
