hi, I've been in the paint business for 8 yrs, and the answer to your question is "Hell No!!" Reason being, spray paint is not made to withstand the every day wear and tear we put our vehicles through every day. It'll eventually chip, flake, bubble, and peel off of your car. This all depends on where you're at and the weather your vehicle sustains. If you're looking for a quick fix try an automotive store, they usually carry spray paint made specifically for cars. If you can't find those, then at least use a descent spray paint like Rust-oleum, they sell a gray primer for cars just about everywhere that it's sold, USE IT, it's worth it !! Hope this helps, if you're in a hot climate, do not apply it in direct sunlight or extreme hot or cold temps. This will cause it to bubble and chip almost immediately. Good luck !!

I'm assuming you don't have a brand new car. The answer is yes. I'm sorry I don't have a picture for and example but I had a small pickup truck that was starting to rust and I spray painted it.
The problem is it's going to be hard to get a smooth look from spray paint, and you have to tape and cover your windows, wheels and glass properly or you will paint them too.
If this is something you want to do my suggestion is to do something artistic. I painted my truck with black and blue flames and it looked awesome. Since it was a $300 1980 Chevy Luv, I had nothing to lose and it was a real hit with my friends and girls.
If you want to do something cool like that you will have to have a mix of spray paint and brush paint. At Wal-Mart you can get matching spary and brush paint for very cheap. Plus the guy or gal that works in the paint section should be knowlegable about what paints to use.

hell yeah! Flat Black is awesome.
Sure it doesn't have the glossy body shop look to it, but if you got a muscle car or an EVO / STI. Flat black on those is completely different and mean looking.
Just be sure that when you use spray paint. Keep the bottles in a tub of warm water, that will help loosen the nozzle and make sure it doesn't clog up while spraying.
