As a probation officer, I can test any of my clients for drugs at any time, whether or not they are on probation for a drug offense. We can request tests for specific drugs if we wish, or just do the standard tests.

Probation doesn't test for drugs unless they think you are using them or have been convicted of a drug offense. If that's the case, you can be tested for anything they want to test you for, when ever they want to test you--at your expense as well! That's the whole point in probation--you have to be good or you get the punishment the court sentenced you to.

Generally a class of drugs (Benzodiazepines, THC, Opioids, etc), but there are readily available tests that will identify a great many specific drugs.
