You've been given a couple of partially wrong answers here.

You're being asked to graph a line. Any time a line is written in the form y = ..., then the number by x is the slope. Here that's -4 or -4/1. That means that if you know one point on the line, you can find another by counting down 4 and to the right 1.

The other number in the equation (here "s") is the y-intercept. I wonder if instead of "s" it isn't actually the number 5, which is very easy to confuse when written hurriedly. Y-intercept means the place where the line crosses the y-axis. If it is in fact 5, that would be at the point (0,5). To graph the line, you'd put a point there (5 units up from the origin) and from that point count down and over to find another point. You connect the points with the line that is your answer.

Since there is no power on any variable which is more than 1, this is a linear equation. So, the graph will be a straight line. A straight line is defined by any two points on it. Let's try to find those points.

There are two variables involved here - x & y
Lets fix one. Let x = 0. Then, y = -4 * 0 + s i.e. y = s
Therefore, the first point is (0,s)

Now, let x = 1. Then, y = -4 * 1 + s i.e. y = s - 4
Therefore, the second point is (0,s-4)

Plot these two points on the graph and join them. This is the required graph.

I am assuming that s is some constant that will be provided.

s is the x-intercept. -4 is the slope.
