I agree we need to clean our own yard before we attempt to help an outsider clean theirs. In the event of a nature disaster, we can make exception with food and other necessities, but for the most part, we need to focus on the USA.

Because we learned the hard way (ww2 and ww1) that isolation and sticking your nose in the sand and acting like everything is ok will not work or accomplish anything.
Were we not where we are the Sovet UNion would be well and in control of most of the world including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
To think that a non intervention policy and a policy of isolation would have stopped the communist take over of all of the world is just not smart. But some people actually see it that way. Those people are just plain anti american because they live in america where they can legally be that way.
When you are sounded by bad apples you have to take steps to remoive them or else all of the crop will be distroyed, and that is the problems America and Britian faces today.
I hope no one really tinbks the bad guys will be over come by conscience and turn to democracy on their own.

I'm not really sure where the conflict is. No country will ever be without problems. Does this mean countries will never be able to help each other?

Obviously, our country has problems, but we have some things right. For example, most Americans are well fed. If another country is starving, we can help them with food shipments or teaching them better farming techniques. Just because we have an obesity problem doesn't mean we can't help a country that can't feed the bulk of its population.

If you are expecting perfection before we look to help other countries, let's also completely close our borders and not accept any new immigrants until we fix immigration, take away everyone's money until we can fix our tax system, take away all the food and shelter until we can fix homelessness, take every weapon and ammunition until we can fix our gun laws, shut down the government and military until we can fix the government, and let's hope for the best while curled in the fetal position out in the street with no money, unprotected, starving, and defenseless.

Great idea, glad you thought of it.

It makes the government feel good to say we are helping the rest of the world. I agree, the money should be spent here getting our own country in shape and not be spent on people who would destroy us if they could.

It's reverse Robin hood, or taking from poor and giving to rich. Most likely less than 2% of foreign aid makes it to undeveloped countries, because it is pocketed by middle people and NGO's. Do you really think this adminstration offers aid out of the goodness of their heart.
