I would like to move there permently, but i have heard diff info on the subject and I'm not sure how to go about it anymore.

That depends on your country of origin. If you are coming from certain Commonwealth countries you could get work visa for year or two. To move permanently - well, yes, it can be hard. Allegedly, UK immigration system is going to change in 2007 and be more similar to Canadian - immigration visas will be approved on basis of education, language skills, work experience etc. rather than hmm, luck (I think that's one of the main requirements these days). I would recommend you to visit FCO web page www.fco.gov.uk where you have sub-category about UK visas and other useful and updated information. Best of luck!

If you have a grandparent who was born in the UK, you can apply for an ancestry visa.
