I was given a kirby vacume cleaner from my mom 3 years ago. A few days ago the darn thing quit working. I've heard that there is a lifetime warranty on these vacumes. This one is 13 years old. My parents paid 1,500 for it from a door to door licensed kirby dealer

no crap...I know it's redundant to call it a vacuum cleaner, that's just how I've always said it.

Kirby is an excellent vacuum and I can't believe the how ignorant some people can be when they write responses. The new Dysons can be even more expensive than this. But for your answer, contact a Kirby representative (look on line, hopefully you can find one) or talk to a vacuum repair person. They should be able to assist you in warranty information and repair problems. Good luck!

I have a Kirby also, I had a problem with mine once. I thought it had a lifetime guarantee also. So I took it to a Kirby dealer to be repaired. When I picked it up. They handed me a bill. I went off of them, which was to no avail. I had to pay for it or they were going to keep it. So no there is no lifetime guarantee. I hate the Kirby vacuum since day one. I would rather have a Hoover any old day.

A call to Kirby Vacuum is the obvious answer if it is really a vacuum.

The factory will rebuild it for a small fee. Go to their web site.
