thanks to all lastnight for your answers but...here is the dilemna. I called the exchange line at the dr.'s office and the witch of a nurse told me that it was probably the "bloody show" from the mucous plug that I saw after getting out of the bathtub. Well I lost my mucous plug 4 days ago and had bloody show then. Everytrhime that I am going to the bathroom, I am wiping blood. It is veiny and stringy. I am having contractions here and there, nothing regular. But lastnight was a different story. My lower back was hurting so bad along with my upper abdomen...I was sitting on my yoga ball to releive some of the discomfort. The nurse told me the hospital won't do anything for me at 37 1/2 weeks, and that they probably won't addmit me.
I think this is a bunch of crap. So here I am today wondering....did my membranes rupture? Is my baby in harm, or for infection?? Any answers would help me. Thanks a bunch!!

I think ur hostipal is a bit wierd on the way they work. It sounds like something is wrong to me. I had my little girl when I was 36wks 2dys. and she was absolutely perfect.Nothing wrong at all. I had toximia and preclampsia, I started going into labor the night of the 25th and went to hos. on the evening of the 26th they said it was my choice to go ahead or stop it and I went ahead and I had her on the 29th and every thing went fine. I'd get a 2nd opinion from a doctor just to be safe. Nothing is more important than that child.

You can continue to have bloody show as your cervix dilates because the dilation can cause tiny capillaries in your cervix to burst and bleed a little. As long as it is only a little blood, you shouldn't worry. All of this only indicates that your body is preparing for labor, not that anything is wrong. I know that going through labor is a scary thing, but try to relax as much as possible. The more relaxed you are, the easier things will progress. Don't worry about your membranes rupturing unless you have a clear watery trickle like you are urinating but you can't control it. And if the contractions become regular and you think it may be labor, don't hesitate to go to the hospital. There is no way for you to tell the difference sometimes between false labor and the real thing other than to get checked to see if you are dilating or not. Don't let the know-it-all nurse tell you what your body is doing based on a phone conversation if you feel like something is not right or you need to be seen.

Best of luck for an easy delivery and a healthy baby!

I am not sure what is going on, unless you are in active labor, and just not having lots of pain. This does happen in some lucky women! My advice to you is to call your doctor and MAKE them make an appointment for you. I don't think your membranes ruptured.....you would eiter have a trickle or a gush of clear fluid. The bleeding you are experiencing may be from the cervix stretching.....who knows? Get to the doctor and don't listen to evil nurses. 37.5 weeks is quite normal for a delivery date.

your membranes is your bag of water and you should know if that has ruptured....but even the hospital wont let the labor continue its corse they should give you medicine that stops the labor untill you at a safe stage to have the baby , i would go to the hospital regardless of what the nurse said

Honey you are still losing your plug. Are you timing your contractions? Just go to Labor and Delivery, they can not turn you away if you have concerns about your pregnancy. You are ready to go at 37 weeks. Doctors will not stop labor at 37 weeks. Just get yourself to Doctors today NO QUESTIONS ASK. Good luck and Congrats.

if you are that worried go to the hospital anyway . even if they wont admit you go and let a doctor check you out and see what the problem is. the most saddest word in the dictionary is (too last)!!
