Why do I see pictures on some websites, but not others?

Sometimes I see a red x, but lot's of time there is nothing, especially on about.com. I get the caption, but no picture or red x. I do have "show pictures" checked in my advanced/multimedia settings in internet explorer.

It could be the web page has wrong scripting & the links to the pictures are wrong or outdated

clean cookies and tem internet files folder set default in security box to all 4 options and in advanced set it default then restart ur comp and try
