Alfalfa supplements-which comes from the Arabic word "Alfalfaca"-food of the Gods-after they saw how it helped their horses health-has every known vitamin and mineral in it known to mankind. It also has the 8 essential amino acids in it-(although not branch-chain)-still good protein! very healthy-and very cheap. Alfalfa ALSO has anti-addictive aids within it and has been used, and proven, in many, many studies to alleviate craving for drugs and alcohol. I used to take the GNC brand TABLETS-16 a day (8 morn-8 night-500mgs per tab I believe)-as a multi-vitamin-ALL balanced too!Health and help-what a combo! Antabuse is crappy for the body in too many ways for my time to list. Take as I recommended, the daily dose of Alfalfa a day. Tell your friend, "Don't drink too, knucklehead!" That also may help.

Antabuse. Makes you horribly sick if you use it, then drink.
If your friend "doesn't want to go to AA", I'm betting that they don't want to do therapy either. That means that they're not ready to fix the problems that cause the drinking. Sad to say, there is more suffering ahead.
Without treatment, if the person does stop drinking, they'll substitute other addictions in their place. While the new addiction might be healthier (ie, workaholic, smoking, exercise, etc) it can just as easily be just as bad or worse (abusive, drugs, etc).

There used to be a drug used called antabuse that cause the patient to vomit violently if he ingested alcohol. It was nasty but effective. They should go to AA it is the most effective way to get control over the situation. It is lifestyle changes that work not just a miracle drug.

He could see his doctor and get on an antidepreesant but until he stops drinking, nothing will help. He could take antabuse once a dya, administered by someone else, but it has to be his doings....
