PayPal is by far the best way to accept payments, and you don't need a special account for this.
With PayPal, you can accept various charge cards without having to set up a merchant account for each card.

you can open a regular checking account and connect with Paypal to receive payments

well if you're opening a small business online you need a merchant account. i think there's like a monthly fee tho
