Most likely you're being asked to derive a function, a rule you can use to get from the input to the output. With only one example, there would actually be infinitely many possible answers. However, the most obvious would be things like y = 3x (since 30 is 3 times as big as 10) and y = x + 20 (since 30 is 20 more than 10).

i think the question does makes sense! The way i understand it, it means whenever you have an imput of 10, the result or the out put would be 30. It's sort of like a ratio. The ratio of imput to out put is 10:30 or 1:3

If you invested $10 in a business, your gross would be $30, giving you a profit of $20.
