Develop your own style instead of copying other people's work. You'll be a lot better off doing other things besides stealing some annoying style. Annie May is crap. It's the worst kind of cartoon.
I'm a big fan of comic book art, and I really believe that it is a legitimate art form, but if you look at the good artists, they all have a different style. Anime is all the same. It's a simple formula that any monkey with a pencil can copy.
And don't type like that, it's annoying.

You should definitely put together a portfolio of your best work. I don't know what you draw exactly but you should make sure to put in backgrounds, perspective, action sequences, talking sequences everything to show you are a well rounded artist.
Secondly anime/manga is an okay style. If you really want to get to be good as an artist you need to study other disciplines. Life drawing is especially important. If you can draw realistic people from life then your manga people will look good.
If you want to get into art school you will have to submit other stuff besides anime, likewise when you take classes you will not be drawing anime so you better prepare yourself.

Anime art is a visual art. I recommend going to anime conventions and submitting art for the art show.
But don't stop learning ALL forms of art. And read manga so that you know where the field is heading.
I help work at an anime convention.

Every art school worth it's salt will not let you in if you only draw anime. To get in you have to have a portfolio of at leas 15 pieces, none of which can be cartoons.
Anime is a huge waste of time, to be brutally honest, and if you're passionate about art learn to draw from life and not from anime.

You should start working on it, practice makes perfect. I'm still young, so I'm tracing some anime characters, and then I wont trace. I read Tokyo pop bookx, love 'em and I hope I'll reed urs someday. My friend's sister draws anime for college, and she says that she traced before, and gradually drew on her own. I hope you the best of luck, and hope to see ur manga posted to the whole entire WORLD!!!!! Good luck, and i hoped I helped. ^^. Btw, drawing anime is visual arts!!!
