If so, please tell exactly how you do it (like what do you do in your throat, how do you place your tongue etc.).

I can make Itchy and Scratchy's voice from the Simpsons. Well just lift up the back of your tongue to nearly block out your throat. And make your voice sound high and you have Itchy's voice. Lower it a little and you have Scratchy's voice.

I used to have pet rats and the only sound they made was either grinding their teeth when they were content or a high-pitched "eeee!" when they were distressed.

As far as "fake" rat sounds are concerned, I would suggest renting the movie "Willard," of 1970's fame, or any rat horror film (such as one with giant rats) and listen to the sound effects the producers gave for those fake rats... (sounds like someone scrubbing mirrors with vinegar and newspaper) and then try mimicking those sounds.

If none of those do it for ya, then fake an East Coast accent, stick your tongue out a lot, over-exaggerate a lisp, and spit a lot when you make /th/ sounds. It worked for Roger Rabbit and Sid (Ice Age).... the sky's the limit in cartoon voices... the sillier, the better.
