I hope I spelled that right. What treatments worked for you? Did you have surgery and did that work out okay?

My dr. recommended surgery which would put me off work for like 6 weeks and there's no guarantee my position would still be available for me upon my return and besides a lot of the nurses said this particular doctor didn't know what he was doing and they ended up taking care of some of his patients when they were admitted some time later. Thanks everyone.

Weight loss, good shoes, therapy with those electro muscle stimulation (ems) things, and streching it out with stepping on tennis balls helped me a lot. I didn't have to have surgery.

At MY house we call it "oh My Foot" disease because when we got out of bed the only thing we could say is "oh my foot, oh my foot!!"
Surgery should be your LAST option. The best thing is ice packs to arches, good arch support either orthotics or a shoe like a birkenstock. Do not go barefoot! Stretching exercises. Stand on a step and drop your heels lower than the step. pick up a rolled towel with your toes. Massage helps too. There are splints available for you to wear at night also
Dr should be prescribing an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen or celebrex. Ketaprofen cream rubbed into the area can help too. There are steroids that can be injected, but they are usually only for severe problems and only offer temporary relief. They can be more painful than the actual plantar fascitis
it does not go away over night.

well Bluekitty, sounds like a real bummer. I would get a second opinion on prognosis. Surely you can find a dr that will discuss the possible alleviation of this crap via surgery and what it will take to be rid of it forever. No need for a kitten to go through life suffering with this crap. I would not stop looking around the medical community though until I definitely found an answer. Don't just take one doctor's word for "no treatment". Visit them all if you have to but do not give up. There IS a treatment out there and you will find it. I promise.

I work as a receptionist in the physical therapy department at a hospital.
Many of our patients that have plantar fascitis have therapy called ASTYM that seems to help them a lot. Many of them also have orthotics made for their shoes. I've heard that works wonders.
Both of these things must be ordered by your doctor and are most always covered by insurance.

Surgery is a last resort. Go see a Pedorthist or podiatrist first and see what options you have. If you have had it less than 1 month, it should respond to physiotherapy. If you have had it longer, then go to the pedorthist/ podiatrist to get it seen to. You will need shoes and orthotics that will help you. That is in addition to the exercises and stretching you need to do.

I have it in BOTH FEET! lol It varies in degree of pain but it sucks for sure. There are exercises you can do to strengthen and stretch, and iceis a lifesaver. I get the pain mostly in the morning but once I'm up and moving it goes away. I stayed away from surgery and have been living well, and still running, for years.

Yeah, thats pretty painful!
I haven't had surgery for it, but my doc told me to use heat and cold on it, alternating it for about 20 minutes in the morning, and then again at night.
It doesn't make the pain go away, but it seems to help.
