Men are different creatures than women, and they pick women for different reasons.
He will ask you to marry him, only when he is ready. You asking him, won't get him ready sooner...it might even take him backwards a bit.

Just be the best, fun, friend&lover you can be to him. Show him your TRUE self. He DOES NOT want a door-mat. (No one does)
Do NOT come off as NEEDY, or DEMANDING you discuss permanency in the relationship.
Just have a blast with him, JUST LIKE if you were married. Give him a clear picture as to how you would be in a permanent relationship.

DO remind him that you ARE his best friend.
Let him know you think he is a fantastic lover.

Don't let him forget that you are still "attractive" to other men, and give him a "reason" to want to tie the knott (men do get competitive and possesive over their women)
to remind him that he does want you and keep you. (DON'T cheat ever - it will screw everything up forever).

And AFTER the marriage, don't change.

IF YOU ARE HAVING TO PRETEND anything
in this relationship in order to get him to the alter, that would be very bad.
NO ONE can pretend forever, so the fakers are the one's that wind up divorced.
JUST BE YOU and don't worry about the rest. If it is all good, HE WILL notice.

It doesn't hurt to hang-out with birds of a feather...other "married" couples.

Don't overdo the "homemaker" role...be clean and tidy, but do also be his source of fun and feeling good about all things.

May God to Bless your relationship.

I'd say bring it up. If you start dropping hints and he doesn't pick up on them, it'l only push you to dropping more obvious hints, and in the long run you could look needy/desperate. Whether or not you ask him yourself depends on what kind of guy he is. A lot of guys want to make that move themselves, so that's something to consider. Maybe the best course of action is to sit down and have a conversation about your relationship with him. Don't put any pressure on him, but just let him know that you're ready to take the next step forward in the relationship.

No don't ask!!!! Let him ask. Never hint that you think it's time to make a decision. This will haunt you later in life. Nothing is more horrible in a relationship than someone accusing you of pushing them into a rash decision. Well, few things are as horrible. If he waits too terribly long, then start dating others, but make sure he knows that this is your course of action, from his failure to launch.

This is a complicated question! In love and marriage, their is a time frame that you both have in order to get married. If it's too soon than it might be a mistake, but if you wait too long you get frustrated with waiting. Give yourself a time frame and stick to it.Write it on a calender and if it does'nt happen within tell him that your looking for something long term.

Forget the hints and clues.
If you love him, and you feel that he loves you, then a firm commitment is reasonable. Bring it up.

If he isnt willing to discuss, then his behavior has become highly
suspicious.

Dont peddle your body, and your love, to someone who doesnt value you.

Either get into a committed relationship or get out of the bed!

Talk about things. Make a plan for the future. Communication is the key to a healthy and happy relationship. Do you mind that he does not propose on bended knee? If you don't mind, then ask him today!

Don't push it. He will ask u when he is ready, Thats how the tradition has been for years. It works so don't mess with it. Otherwise you can scare him off or make him feel cornered and rushed. In any case you will end up not getting what you want...

This is what you said: "Is it a good idea to ask your lover to marry you because your so in love with each other?"
If you're so in love with one another why hasn't he already asked?
If you're so in love with one another why haven't you already asked?
Why does it have to be a particular way when two people truly love one another?
Of course, the key word here is truly.
