Jack jr--- Do you remember their attempts to free themselves, and how they were slaughtered by jet fighter planes?

You're absolutely right. The United States defeated Saddam and his army, and turned the country to a freely elected government (remember the blue thumbs?). It’s now up to the Iraqi people to take control of their country and establish peace. Peace cannot be forced on any people by a foreign army. We can help them police their country for a while, but it is really up to them now.

This is an opportunity that they didn't even want. This "freedom" came at quite a cost. Thousands of U.S. troops have died, over 600,000 Iraqis have died. They were content with what they had or they would have done something about it themselves. They never wanted our brand of "freedom". So yes, you can say that we are to be blamed. Just remember, true change comes from within. That also applies to foreign governments.

They got to WANT it pal......................takes awhile and lotas of guts to get it done. Religious NUTS get in the way......do away with the religious nuts asap for better chance of getting freedom.
