You do know there is a big difference between food from northern India and southern India? "North Indian cuisine is distinguished by the use of dairy products—such as milk, paneer (cottage cheese), ghee (clarified butter), yoghurt and wheat ... South Indian cuisine is distinguished by a greater emphasis on rice as the staple grain, the liberal use of coconut and curry leaves particularly coconut oil, and the ubiquity of sambar and rasam (also called saaru) at meals."

Wow, where to start... where to start? My wife and I eat at Dimassi's Mediterranean Buffet quite often. There are four (soon to be five) in town. We like the Katy Freeway one (being two miles from home), although the one on Highway 6 is close to my office, and we meet friends at the one on Richmond near the Galleria. Haven't been to the Woodland's restaurant yet. Great variety, and I dive into their lamb. My wife and I found this place called Yanoush quite by accident a few Fridays ago. We were driving around trying to find something for dinner because neither of us were in a mood to cook. We were on Westheimer and turned down Fondren instead of going to Hillcroft. We found this place just before you got to the Westpark tollway. There were fountains, and you pretty much ate either out under trees or out under a huge covered area. There are many more (both previous posters mentioned Cafe Lili, and that place is very fresh and clean and a good bargain). Also there are a ton of little hole-in-the-wall places along Hillcroft. I'd name a few but I need to get some coffee into my system! EDIT: BABA below is a spammer, so do NOT click that link. ADDITIONAL EDIT: About Kasra... my barber recommended it (he's also Persian). I took my wife there for her birthday. We love that place too! The rice assortments are incredible, especially the sour cherry one. Unfortunately they share a parking lot with Yao's, which is wayyyy overrated.

There are no Indian restaurants in Houston, Texas. All the Indians have been sent to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to die in poverty.
Try looking for a decent Mesican restaurant. There are thousands of Mesican restaurants in Houston.
