But - if he is just shy... You may try to do it in a tricky way. For example - he asks: can we meet tommorow? You say: I'm not sure, I'll be able to tell you tommorow after school... But how will I tell you... Mmm.. by phone....;PP

Just you know, start playing with your phone, and then be like "Hey, what's your number?" keep it CASUAL!
He'll give it to you, and most likely ask for yours! It worked for me!
