1 joule will heat 1 ml of water 1 degree C. edit sorry water has a heat capacity of 4.18J/gK so 4.18J will heat 1mL of water 1 degree so 10MJ will heat about 40 litres of water in your hotwater system so if you have a 200l hot water tank you will need at least 5m2 of plexiglass surface to get it hot

a joule is a measure of energy. you use it alot in phsics using the formula e=mc2 but to be honest i cant really remember much about what it all means,

hi this is to do with energy - either the amount of energy in a given food, or what we would use by exercising etc.. most people are more aware of calories though
