I have owned a Sprint branded Treo 650 for over a year now. I find it to be an awesome pda/phone. I like the Palm OS for it's ease of use. It has a pretty nice color screen. The qwerty keyboard is well designed. I chose Sprint because of their inexpensive data plans. The camera is poor, bluetooth is only adequate, and the internet speed is good. The 700p uses EV-DO and can get much higher internet speed and has an improved camera, but I'm not ready to upgrade yet. I'm satisfied for now. Next year, rumour has it that Apple will release a pda/phone. It could be the best yet on the market at launch. Imagine a mobile OS X operating system with iChat, iSync and iTunes. It'll be interesting to see what it's priced at. The Treo 680 might be an inexpensive alternative at this time. It'll start out on the GSM/EDGE network. Not as fast as EV-DO though.

I would highly recommend that you wait a couple more weeks for the new Treo that are better designed, and are cheaper:

The Treo 680 should be available at most carriers. Retail price is going to be around $199.
