They give you the option, but it dont work. Your opponents have 2 see what you type.

No one's IMs work in the lounges because there was too much cheating going on in the card rooms. If you want to chat privately with someone, open a table, make it private, and invite him/her to chat with you.

Yahoo did away with that option in an effort to cut down on cheating.now you have to chat in rooms where all can see.
