There is a difference of course from being a nice person and allowing people to take advantage of you.

There are many nice people who get ahead everyday.
The founder of Wendy's was a wonderful person who helped 1000's of children

The founder of Chick of Fila is a wonderful perosn, he will not open on Sunday so his people can go to church.

Sam Walton was a great person, ( not the current owners and mangagers but he was and is rolling over in his grave for what they have done to his stores.

So no, actually nice people do very well.

You're actually confused by what you see.

Yes, you see a lot of stories of people who get ahead by being evil, but that's really an illusion. I will explain.

First of all, NOBODY in the entire world considers themselves to be "evil". Everyone thinks they are doing good. Al Capone died in prison believing that he hadn't done anything wrong, as he made his fortune by providing entertainment that people wanted, in spite of laws forbidding those entertainments. Murderers think they serve God.

Second, most of the stories you see about rich and evil people, such as some organized crime hit man, or some corporate scam artist, are about people who are probably going to jail. If you're hearing about someone that made their living doing evil things, there's a really good chance that being evil didn't really work out so well for them. Some get away with it their entire lives, but the deck is stacked heavily against them.

Third, all people who actually earn a living get paid for solving problems for other people. That means they are doing good. The more good you do for more people, the better the life you get in return. That's why entertainers make more than teachers. They may do less for each individual they serve, but they serve countless more people.

I am not sure exactly what your question is, but pastors are people and all people have flaws. We should not judge pastors any differently than any other person in society. They love, feel pain, suffer disappointment, experience joy and are tempted just like the rest of us. Remember they are not God—they are just people.
