Are both totally no-no's or can they be matched in some caes? A quick example if you can? Thanks!

My living room growing up was brown and blue. It was quite pretty but you do have to find the right mix, chocolates and taupes work best with blues in the same shade. You should go to a paint store and check their colour wheels. All their colours are set to match with pretty much any other colour in the same colour tone. Just don't try electric blue. UUGGHH!

blue and brown go if the blue is a bright sort of turquoise and the brown is a rich brown. with black and blue the blue cant be navy blue or else it clashes too much

Black goes with pretty much anything..
blue and brown are opposite colours so they should look nice together as well
It also depends on the shade or tone etc.

Try baby blue and chocolate brown. Love that. And Cobalt blue and black. Also very good.
