I think Ben has not played up to his potential due to the crash and the appendectomy. When you look at the teams the Steelers have lost to, all 3 of those teams are playoff contenders. Jacksonville, Cincy and San Diego as 3 or your first 4 games with two of those on the road is a very tough early season schedule but of course this team did win the SB last year. I don't think the Steelers are out of the playoff picture at all. The next 3 games are winnable against KC, Atlanta and Oakland. Then a Nov 5 matchup at home against a very good Denver team appears on the schedule. This could be the game of the season for the Steelers and reestablish them as a playoff contender this season with a win in Pittsburgh. This team has a lot of weapons and I think it is way too early to lose faith in Ben or the team. I'm a Bengals fan myself, but I don't think for a minute that Pittsburgh can't put together a long string of victories and muscle back into the playoff picture. I respect this team for what they have already done and know they have nearly all the same personnel this year. Ben will return to form in my opinion and that is not good news for all the teams the Steelers have left on their schedule.

It isn't the crash. It is a combination of things. First off they have lost their luck. Another is that they seem to not have the passion of last year. Add into that all the injuries and players just not being fully healthy. Ben is still somewhat out mentally it seems, Ward is playing with a hamstring injury, Troy is playing hurt, all the injuries to the D this week with Porter and Townsead now having hamstring problems. The biggest problem though seems to be that they can't FINISH A GAME. They really keep losing in the Fourth Quarter. As a Steelers fan I can tell you if they put togther a complete game and can play the fourth Quarter they win.
As to Ben he isn't sub-par. He showed that last year in the playoffs. They didn't lose WRs other then Randle-El and as a WR he wasn't used that much. I won't say he was bad but don't think he will be compared to Harrison or something. He is good but not great. Right now Ben isn't playing to his ability. You watch his play and you can see why the INTs. Some of the are following his Wide-Outs instead of watching someone else. Simple mental mistake. The one against Cincy where he threw to Miller in the endzone was simply a bad play call. Everyone KNEW he was throwing to Miller and there was triple coverage there, the three guys were just about two steps off to let Ben think he could make that throw.

Yeah. Ben is just not himself right now. After his accident and his appendix surgery, he's trying to "recharge his batteries" so to speak.
The Steelers should've sat him out for the first three or four games and put in Charlie Batch (who, btw, is a good backup QB).

They just let go too many of their weapons and I do think Big Ben is showing his true "colors now". I think it goes to show that without any serious threats to go to Ben is just another sub par quarterback unlike Brady and Manning. Tom Brady is getting the job done with a less than par deep threat receiving core and I think his 3 rings speak for themselves. Steelers stink and they really got lucky last year and more importantly were given that Superbowl by the officiating. Sorry but it's a fact

The biggest mistake they made was bringing back big Ben to early. They should have stayed with Batch for the first two months. Now they have injuries on defense. Oh well, thats the way it goes.

I guess after last year's results they kinda let go of their former playing attitude..... Ben being in a crash could be psychological too, since he's not playing as well as he was once, his team doesn't too, instead of stepping up they also fall

I'm sure his crash didn't help. I think Willie Parker was a flash in the pan, and Hines Ward not being 100% doesn't help anyone (Including my fantasy team). I also think missing the Bus is hurting them, though they don't know it. I think he was an emotional leader with lots of experience and leadership. He was also easy money at the goal line.

That's a big part of it. I predict though that this week will be the beginning of their turn around.
