I have a lincoln navigator 98 that will not go back wards it drives forwards. wondering what is the best way to fix such a car. Any advice. I dont have a job right now so spending thousands of dollors is not an option. aida a

First thing I would do it check the shift linkage and make sure its pulling back into reverse. Once this is determined I'd say check the transmission fluid but chances are your transmission is toasted. Ford trannies usually toast reverse first.
