I have a 95 olds. cutlass supreme. It only vibrates between the 1.5 and 2 on the rpm gauge. It isn't the steering wheel, it feels like the whole car is shaking. Speed doesn't matter and it also vibrates a little while sitting still. It will stop vibrating when I put it into the passing gear but when I use cruise control it can vibrate pretty bad. I'm worried that it's going to die on me before I can get into the shop.

Could be the motor mounts, or tires or shocks. Best to have a mechanic check it out.

You may have broken a motor mount.

It happened to me on a Saturn a few years ago.

It cost virtually nothing to replace but I thought the car would shake apart before I could get it into the shop.

ask the mechanic to check the engine and transmission mountings. Also get the CV joints checked. Get a tappet setting done and get the timings checked. Also get the engine ECM checked for fuel injector problems or a bad sensor - and get the software re flashed. If it not having a electronic fuel injection system then ask the mechanic to do a complete tune up job.
