NO ONE can replace Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins.
Madonna isn't pretty enough nor does she give the appearance of a gentle, loving careperson. She doesn't have the lilting voice of Julie Andrews.

What an awful thought-UGH!

Title Role For Madonna

I think she "could" play the role but it would be suited to someone else. When Julie Andrews played her it wasn't a stretch to picture her in such a "clean" and "proper" role. Madonna would be a stretch (not that I have a problem with her dirtiness :)
Someone younger too. Scarelett Johansen? Can she even sing?

I suppose she could.........would it be a good fit for the part? NO!! She is anything but the Mary Poppins type. In fact, a better Disney role for her would be Ursula, the sea-witch, if they did a live action Little Mermaid.

I think she'd be great in todays context coz in post Shaw days genteelity and elegance were what made women 'lustful' and in present context, Madonna is the eclectic sort of woman fickle men (which make up most of the XY population) like.

That would be a terrible choice. There are at least 20 actresses out there that can nail that part without even trying, why would you give it to Madonna?

I hope 2 God not, can you imagine ' her ' playing that role. Mary Poppins is a classic, and if she does get that part its ......... its ............ well not fair !!!

They are already doing a stage version. She could pull it off - but the critics would give her a hard time.

I don't see why not. She's gotten kind of ragged, but she cleans up well for the camera.

And she's acted in movies before, so learning the lines shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah. why not?
