Yes, but it depends on the surrounding light level.
It is possible to see a candle from 1 mile (5,000 feet), so a bonfire
from 3 miles would stand out.
If the bonfire was out in the country it could be seen from many miles away.

If it is a large bonfire then yes .. think of the WW2 photographs of bombing raids. Even small groups of incendiaries could be seen falling to the ground from well over 20,000 feet.
Therefore, as long as the night was clear with no low cloud or mist, then you should be able to see a bonfire from even higher.

After all, in horizontal terms, you are only talking about a distance of just under 3 miles. Warning beacons, in times before telephones, etc., were lit on a hill top and could be seen from another hill top ten or more miles away on a clear night.

So no problems - though the windows of some airliners are so grubby that you might be pushed to see on some occasions, clear night or not!!

Yes definitely! Having flown back from Spain over a Bonfire weekend we saw all the bonfire's apart from the really small ones and it's really spooky being above the Fireworks rather than standing and craning your neck to look at them. Fantastic!

A bonfire, if it is large enough could be sen from any altitude. Fires on some of the moons of Jupiter can be seen from the hubble space telecope and we are talking several million miles here. The only problem would be weather conditions. i.e. you wont be able to see anything if it is too cloudy.

as long as its not too cloudy. a lit cigarette can be seen for 2 miles. 15000 ft is less than 3 miles and a bonfire is a lot larger than a cigarette. maybe not with the naked eye, but binoculars without a doubt.

Yes. Depending on cloud cover and a big bonfire (maybe a car sized one).

Sure it can be seen. That is only three miles. Depending on the surrounding light and topography, a small campfire could be seen from that altitude.
