Most certainly you can set up a wireless network. I'm not really sure on the cost, but I know that it is really easy to do. There are basically 3 types of routers that you can buy. There is a B, G, and Pre-N (from slowest to fastest). My guess is that the Pre-N is around $79-99 or so if you want the fastest. I'm not sure how old your computers are, but most made in the last few years come with network cards already installed, especially laptops. I would check all your computers before you go to the store because you may not even need to buy them. You will have to use the desktop as the Hub and then use wireless on the laptops. The router should come with an ethernet cable that will plug into your network card on the desktop. If you want to connect any other desktops, you will have to purchase a wireless card (unless you want to run ethernet cables between them, which can get annoying). If you laptops already have wireless cards installed, then go to the properties option and select your network that you want to connect to. It really is simple. Hope this helps.

YES this can be a very bad situation if the "wrong" person got into your network. Mainly because of what their intention is, which in most cases is to gain access to your internet connection to do whatever they want. Things like trying to hack into government computers and the like is usually their goal. And it will all come back to YOU if they are detected by the owners of the systems they hack into. Read the manual and get the security turned on ASAP. There is no such thing a totally secured wireless network but if you make it slightly difficult many of the hackers will usually move on to an unsecured network such as your is at the moment. Good luck and happy Thanksgiving.

yap, there's a way to share your net connection wirelessly. wireless routers are easier to configure than the traditional LAN cabling too. to set it up, you need a wireless router and wireless NIC cards or a wireless USB network adapter which connects to every p.c.
when buying a wireless router, consider investing in the new Linkysys MIMO (multiple in, multiple out). Linksys might be more expensive, but they're very reliable and durable. MIMO's are better than the more traditional and cheaper single antenna routers since it use multiple antennas to increase the thoroughput and range of your wireless router.

Yes it can.....you have to get a wireless NIC (network interface card). Then you will need to get a wireless router to hook up to your modem or a netgear cable modem gateway. These will both get you connected. Desktop Macs have airports built right in so they are ready for wireless service right out of the factory.

Yes, you can get the stuff you need right here. http://www.geeks.com
You'll need a wireless router, and a card for each home pc. It can be done for less than $100 for the router and one card, then about $35 for each additional pc.

yea...definatly, from your main computer get a router that has a wireless signal...just look around, u can find a good deal somewhere...than on the other PC's go to bestbuy or w/e and you can either get an internal (which is more reliable, but more expensive) or get an external, which worked just fine for me!
