Playing 1 on 1, I can usually outdribble most of my competition, but when it comes to the game and I dribble into traffic, I have the tendency to travel, carry, lose control of the ball, or miss my shots 90% of the time. IS this just a practice issue

one advise dude, when you dribble into traffic try and think of what you're gonna do next before you even attempt to mix it up in there. One advise that the pros say is that dribbling into traffic in a game is unavoidable but it can be lessened. First of all, the defense is there to trap the ball, so once you're being defended by one too many defenders, the chances of turning the ball over is very high, that's why avoid it as much as you can. Before you even dribble into traffic, try and see where your teammates are so that you can pass the ball once your double teamed (or ambushed) by defenders. Once you see one of your teammates defenders coming over, try and make the defender pay by passing the ball to the man he left. This not only makes you a better teammate, but also makes the defender think twice before double teaming you, because if you still attempt to make the shot when double teamed, the chances of making it go down. Think about it, defending someone who can shoot when left isolated yet makes the right pass when double teamed is a really BIG headache compared to someone who forces shots up.

YOu have to relax and be able to be poised under pressure. Also, just by practicing ball handling drills you become better. You need to know that there's a big difference between 1 on 1 and 5 on 5. ( BUt you probably already know that)
Good Luck.

P.S. Dribble low

I wouldn't worry too much about it. At least you aren't dribbling all over yourself like a pathetic, foamy-mouthed liberal!
