just replaced the tstat and noticed the noise, could have been there before.

It could be the transformer if you hear it when the furnace is not running. If this it the case then it is normal and sometimes it can be very loud. If you hear the noise when it is running it could be a vibration and if it is too loud then have it checked and if you don't think it is either of these things then have it checked soon.

Does it make the buzzing sound before it starts up? It could be the "Taco". I don't know exactly what the Taco is, but there's one on my furnace and it seems to make a buzzing sound before the furnance starts up. Incidentally, it is shaped like a Taco (but its green) and it is called a Taco. It has buzzed for years. It must be normal.
