The Kenny Rogers currently with the Tigers has been playing since 1989 - he's the only player of that name in MLB history. You're probably thinking of Steve Rogers, who played for the Expos from 1973-85.

Maybe you're thinking of Kenny Rogers the singer. He was popular in the late 70's early 80's. Baseball/MusicHall... I can see why you'd be confused, but you shouldn't take it out on your wonderful husband. He's always right, you know. (just kidding!)

I think he played for The Texas Rangers in the 80's and maybe the 90's.
