I doubt it. I can't even get Canadian money accepted in the US. I can go to a US bank and have it exchanged.

You may be able to have it exchanged at a Mexican bank. I'm not sure. I would suggest that you exchange some of your money to Pesos before leaving for Mexico, or use travelers checks in Pesos. You would then be able to re-exchange any left, back to Canadian.
They do accept all US currency.

Best suggestion is a credit or debit card. Visa and Master Card are accepted everywhere.
Cards will always insure a fair exchange rate, on the day it gets to your card holder.

Shops and stores have no knowledge of any current exchange rates.

Generally speaking, one may be "cheated" or "overcharged" on currency exchange in Mexico.

Hola! It has only been a few years since the Mexicans started accepting Canadian money in Cabo. I can remember a few years back at a local bank when they were holding up our "funny" money to the light and talking/giggling amongst themselves!!

So, keep in mind, you are in a foreign country and should use their currency!!

Even though our Canadian money is worth more now, I still wouldn't use twoonies or loonies to tip. Can you imagine how you would feel if a Croatian handed over some of their Kunas to pay you??

American money and pesos are accepted more gratefully!

I just got back from there yesterday, and did see various exchanges that showed the Canadian rate (thus appear to accept the exchange). However, like the aforementioned answeres, I'm highly assuming Canadian money won't go any further than that. I'm American and changed some USD to pesos, but looking back I didn't need to. If you're comfortable carrying USD, I'd recommend doing that.

Maybe you would be able to exchange Canadian dollars into Mexican pesos in a bank, but you'll lose money!

Better bring US dollars (notes) which are easier to use or to exchange without losing money.

Or bring a Visa or Master Card credit card to get Mexican pesos direct from ATMs and paying with it at restaurants, hotels, etc. American Express cards may be not accepted everywhere.

It would be very rude to tip with Canadian coins, because local people doesn't have chace to change coins into Mexican money.

Nope.

I recomend you canging your money to pesos (10 or 9 pesos are 1 canadian dolar)
They accept american dolars in some parts but i recomend you pesos.

Today a Canadian dolar is 9.52 pesos.

Dont go to banks like HSBC to change you money.

Will answer your question with a question. Do you in Canada except Mexican Pesos? The answer is probably No.

The only currency I know that locals businesses in foreign countries take is the US Dollar.

No. The only other currency (other than the local currency) accepted in Mexico, and most parts of the world, is the USD.
