go to walmart and buy yourself some felt in yellow and brown. they have a fabric section where you can buy it by the yard. map out how much fabric you'll need, and always buy more than enough. get your self a hot glue gun, gluing the suit inside out. when you turn it right side in it will look like you have sewed it together. the hot glue will melt together the felt for a really strong hold. then you can take the brown felt and make the top, bottom, and the little lines throughout the banana. yes, felt works wonders. it gives a smooth, cartoon like appearance. you can even buy some stuffing and stuff the top of the banana and cut a hole for your face, that way the shape holds round. i have made costumes for my children for years using felt and a hot glue gun!have fun and be creative. it won't cost you but 20 dollars or so.

Get very sturdy fusible interfacing from a fabric store of the craft aisle. Iron it on the back of whatever fabric you want. (Make sure you don't melt the fabric, the synthetic setting should do.) It will make the fabric stiff enough to keep shape. Peel apart a banana to get an idea of how the individual pieces go together, and make a small banana first to test our your construction.

The one that's on line is made of foam. Maybe you can get thin sheets of foam and sow them together in the banana shape. Perhaps you can use thin plastic tubing inside as a frame.
