Short Answer:
Keep dreaming.

Academic Response:
Nothing is free, according to economists, its always gonna cost someone something. For example: When a shop is offering FREE french fries to customers, the fries you get isn't really free, the shop pays for it.

Since resources in this world are limited, anything we produce carries with it opportunity costs, the french fries we make could have been used instead to make mashed potatoes or power up a light bulb (don't ask). By going to the shop for the "free" french fries, you are foregoing the opportunity of spending your time indoors surfing the web (hence it'll cost you).

Unless in the distant future they figure out a way to have unlimited amounts of potatoes and other resources and also build a time machine of some sorts. If not then we are out of luck...

I suppose to what kind of extreme would we like to take it to -

Freedom is not free you must still obey the laws

There is www.freecycle.org and that stuff is free - though someone could say yes you have to go pick it up and spend your own gas money.

But if you are talking about the spam that comes in through the Internet for:Applebee's free food, free DVD, free trip, free Wal-Mart card you must fill out a couple of dozen of surveys and then you get even more Spam and I have still never ended up with any thing free through there.

There are individuals who do things totally out of the goodness of their heart you just have to wage it against greed. And look at all the angles but I do think some things are free.
