I joined this site to share my knowledge and learn something new.
I get fed up with people posting rude and offensive answers. It appears to me they do this simply to get two points.
Am I the only one getting annoyed?

NO! I am also a "newbie" it hasn't taken long to realize there is an obvious monopoly on asking and answering practically ALL the questions. Best answers to best buds no matter how ridiculous..

And so poetic why is the sky blue? why is grass green? hmmph -I'm not asking for myself -I am just completely taking up space and will file this data away in case a toddler asks this same question.

Wow, I wonder if some ever actually......... leave the site??? Now that's spooky. Sadly I think all the new cool people just come try it out and then leave because they can't get a chance.

I wonder if there will be just that one person left in the empty hallowed halls of Yahoo going "Excuse me, excuse me, I have a question, hello? hello? anyone there????????????????????????? my points ...arrrgggghh

I totally agree with you (I've ranted in at least 2 of my answers on this subject) and I must say that the mentality of people like Isis on this subject beggars belief! How dare you make personal and ignorant judgements about people who are honest enough to say that they're fed up with reading the comments of time wasters! Also, to those who say chill out, I say that we're not making a fuss over nothing, we are just saying that we're fed up with the rude people and time wasters on here and that, if we don't say so, the admininstrators of these websites will continue to allow people to post offensive and pointless comments on here! So, we won't be 'chilling out' until these kinds of comments stop because they totally go against what the site was set up for in the first place! Rant over! Thank you!

No, you aren't the only one. In the past few months it seems the people who answer have gotten more and more rude and insulting and more into points than answering serious questions. Some areas seem to be worse than others. Sports and politics are really bad. I haven't seen as much abuse in less popular, controversial areas like gardening.

To the person who is irritated becasue they keep getting reported and warnings.....hmmmm maybe you should think about why this is happening.

No, you're not the only one. This is a great site for sharing answers and there are some really good ones. Sort the good ones from the rubbish and disregard the latter. There will always be some answerers who get their kicks (as well as points) from giving minimalist, stupid or rude answers. They really don't matter. I doubt they'll get many points for giving 'best answers'! ~RJS

There ARE some stupid answers to some questions. It really isn't ALL about the points. I find it passes the time, & you can actually help people. So yes, it IS upsetting to get a bad answer, bad spelling, bad grammar, etc., but if you do eventually get the answer you want, look passed the prats & gain satisfaction from getting a reply.

The ones that annoy me the most are the "I don't know" or "Ask your mom/doctor/cat" type answers. I'm here for ANSWERS from Yahoo! users. If you don't have one, don't hit the "answer" button!

I report those answers, as they go against the community guidelines. They are "Not a question or answer", and are therefore subject to removal and penalty. Rating an answer with a thumbs down also makes me feel better.
Grrr.

If it is the weekend or late in the day you'll get more rude and ignorant answers the kids are out of school and when they are on you see the immaturity on here. But you will get great answers regardless so just pass the bad ones by and read the ones that are trying to help.

Well what do you expect. You open something to the general public and it is available to everyone. Including ppl who don't care. It is like that with everything. And just like ever thing else you have to weed out what you don't want to read and answer and just look for the content that you do want to read. I guess that is why clubs, clicks, gangs and what have you are popular. Because it allows for the gathering of similar minded people. And to a certain degree they are closed off to the general public and you are only allowed in if the members say so.

I don't get some of these people either. A lot of it is for the points. I know I always try to leave people with something that makes sense and is constructive. Other people are just on here to play around and be mean to people. Whatever. They can't steal my joy!

Well I'm not one who normally gives rude or ignorant answers. I have over 200 best answers so I know I'm trying. But....and I have to attribute this to human nature, sometimes these questions are quite.....repetitive, sophomoric and lacking thought behind them. And I sometimes break out and say something not too kind. It's rare, but it happens. Take the "Hypothetical Question" question I just answered.....(the Q just before you on my list)
