Hm, not sure where the question was there. I'll say this much: no geographic formation has a "natural" or "innate" name. We in the U.S. stopped calling it the "Persian" gulf in the 1980s when we sided with Iraq against Iran. Then in the 1990s, when we turned against Iraq, we started calling it the Persian Gulf again. In India, Nehru coined the phrase "cartographic aggression," using maps and borders as tools of politics. Naming bodies of water and other landforms is just a variation of that.

To the Arabian Gulf people its known as the Arabian Gulf. to Iran, The Persian Gulf . However, internationally and on most maps world wide it is labelled as the Persian Gulf in reference to history. The debate silently goes on.
