It will probably kill it off the gravel but it will still be on the fish, in the water, in the filter and all over anything else you have in there. What kind of fish do you have? I just bought a fish yesterday that has white spot and I am treating it with salt but not all fish can handle the salt. If your can I would do that rather then use the meds, sometimes the meds can make the fish more stressed which can kill them.

you can boil the gravel for 5 min. {a rolling boil } also soak every thing that is in tank in salt water use boiling water and soak untill water has cooled then rinse every thing VERY WELL clean your filter also use new filters i have had to do this in the past i also have a fish store that the owner sells the medication pills for different illness along with the prepackaged meds . but reg. table salt will kill the parasites and you do it in a bucket alot less mess good luck

you will have to clean the tank and everything you are going to put back in it ..the gravel could be done in the oven but it can also be placed outside in the sunlight for a couple of days on newspaper when the sun is very strong you will hear the gravel crackling on the paper when everything is clean they can be put back together and all should be O.K.....
