the continental plates moving will cause cracks into the earth an molten lava will flow out and cool into igneous rocks. when two plates meet there is alot of heat and pressure, this will compress and cause sedimentry rocks to change like sand deposits to change to sandstone or chalk to limestone.
hope that answers your question.
God bless,

Look up divergent and convergent boundaries under the plate tectonics chapter to see a discussion of where and why some igneous rocks form. Also, read about the conditions that create metamorphic rocks (heat and pressure) and consider the effects of pressure and heat at convergent boundaries, or heat from igneous intrusions at divergent boundaries.
