If you are referring to Indians from India, it is Hindu. If you are referring to Native Americans, or American Indians, it is a form of an animistic and shamanistic religion. It is different for every tribe, but we all have the same basic belief. We were created by the Earth Mother to protect the world, and we believe that all plants and animals are connected.

Supposing that you are refering to the Indians of India and their religion I want to say the following for the benefit of the worlwide friends.
Bombay never existed in India . Only Mumbai. Trichnopoly was unknown in India. Only Tiruchrappalli. Towns , names , monuments, people... you name them . The English were never able to pronounce the names of the natives. Bbeing the rulers they changed it to suit their tongue.
The "Hindus" were also invented by them. The English , in their quest to conquer the world ( Brittania rules) invaded many a countries including them USA, canada, Australia... At each place they met with the locals and they called all of them native Indians.
Indians of India were also native Indians. Possibly looking at th sheer numbers here in India, their vast and rich culture and heritage they looked for some historical but Indian sounding name and they chose Hindu name , as the original civilization sprang from Indus river area. Indus....Indian ...... Hindus. That is it. Hinduism was called Hindu`s religion. What a way !
2006 years back what were the Christians called ? Where was Christianity? These people had some faith and some beliefs 2006 years ago.. Similarly before the English created this Hindu religion the name was ...Sanathana Dharma.which literally translate to righteous living

'Sanatana Dharma'(Eternal Natural Law)or Yoga.
In Sanskrit, the original language of India, 'Sanatana' means Everlasting(Eternal) and 'Dharma', by a crude translation, means Religion(Natural law). The Everlasting Religion (Eternal Natural law), Hinduism was founded, exists and flourishes in India.
India gave to the world the original, oldest and most profound philosophy of life. The brilliant ancestors of present-day Indians explored the Truth behind our existence and gave several philosophies and theories to define the Truth. At the same time, they created a set of rules(yamas & niyamas) codes of conduct for "good living" on this earth. The philosophical concepts that Indians gave to mankind are eternal and constitute no religion by themselves being universal in nature.
Sanatana Dharma does not have a starting point in history, does not have a founder, and has no Church. The sages who shaped the Hindu religion merely reiterated the teachings of the Vedas, the Hindu scriptures (most of which were unwritten & descended by word of mouth). The Vedas are believed to have no origin. In ancient India, the Vedas formed the educational system and broadly comprised all the different spheres of life, such as spiritual, scientific, medical, management, arts, fine arts, architecture and so on.
Sanatana Dharma is the lesser known, name for the path of Yoga Spirituality. In fact, it can be truthfully said that the practical techniques of Yoga are nothing less than the philosophy of Sanatana Dharma in practice. It is the world's most ancient culture and the spiritual path of almost one billion of the earth's inhabitants now. Though the majority of followers have historically been Indian (South Asian), today Sanatana Dharma (Yoga Spirituality) has adherents from almost every nationality, race and ethnic group in the world, including an ever-increasing number of Americans.

India is one of the most religiously diverse nations in the world, with some of the most deeply religious societies and cultures.
The faith of more than 80.4% of the people is Hinduism, considered the world's oldest religious and philosophical system. Islam is practiced by around 13.4% of all Indians.
Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism are Indian-born religious systems that are strong and influential in India and across the world. But their proportion is small in comparison to Hinduism and Islam, specially because Jainism and Sikhism do not believe in publicizing themselves for the purpose of increasing their numbers. During India's Movement for Independence, many people who were considered down-caste, converted to Buddhism as it as a religion does not have caste system woven into it. At present, there are some people who in spite of not belonging to Buddhism, practice Buddhist meditations and try to live up to it's philosophy, but mostly without converting to Buddhism.
Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Judaism and the Baha'i Faith are also influential in smaller proportions (except for Christianity).
Despite the strong role of religion in Indian life, atheism and agnostics are also visible influences.

there is no religion for Indians.
Hinduism is a way of life and not a religion.
there are many schools of thoughts on this,
but Indians do not have a religion that is why the tolerance and adaptability to any other religion is there in India
