Do you mean the word, 'description'?
Spelling rule? There isn't one, except from 'describe', change the 'b' to a 'p' and add '-tion'.

Sorry, I don't understand the question ... how do you mean a spelling rule? You just spell it the way you have. It's the ONLY way you can spell it. :)

don't exactly understand the question , sorry. There was one spelling rule form school I have always remembered , which was 'i' before 'e' except after 'c' - eg , bel 'ie' f and rec 'ei' ve. Is this what you are talking about?

perhaps it would be:
rule:
when converting the infinitive of a verb ending in the letters "ibe" into a noun, you must swap the letters "be" for a "p" and add the suffix "tion"
examples:
(verb) descriBE = descriPTION (noun)
(verb) subcriBE = subscriPTION (noun)
(verb) prescriBE = prescriPTION (noun)
of course this rule only applies one way i.e. when converting verbs to nouns (not vice versa). also you could not get a noun ending in the letters "ibe" to be replaced with a "ption" suffix. e.g. 'diatribe' (i.e. rant) to 'diatription' (nonsense word) just does not work.
