as of now there is no scientific data to substantiate that life exists on other planets.any how for your hypothetical question, my hypothetical answer is when you believe in aliens why should we choose Internet only as a means of communication. if they are powerful, they appear in our dreams and communicate with us. where ever we are and when ever we wish we can talk to them.i also think what the religions say about god, angels, heaven and hell could be the life in some other planets and some thousands years back they used to visit us and for their good deeds we called them gods and for bad deeds demons. it is really funny to talk to those aliens.

We don't have to go to outer space. The world is full of alien cultures that can be reached through the Internet. English as a second language is spoken in many cultures and one can communicate with "aliens" very easily.
Remember the definition of alien can be "...something or someone not known or understood,.,." Wouldn't it be great if we all tried to communicate more openly with real ideas in an attempt to understand other viewpoints.

Well, if there human-like like you said than we can expect them to act human correct? Since we would be the visitors we would probably be the advanced ones. So, the real question would be what would we do if aliens came down. Apart from individuals taking it into there own hands to establish contact (like aliens landing in a ranch in Texas and some farmer taking on the role as ambassador) I think America and every other government would act as graciously as possible to forgo the technologically advanced wrath of said visitors. We could expect the same if we were the visitors. If they are human like than they most likely rely on sight most of all since being bipedal means being high up for good sight. So, drawing pictures would work. Maybe bring a TV to show them what humans were like, what it took to get there, and what our intentions were. If none of that worked than communication through action might work... like giving them something shiny. If they were so primitive that they did not realize that I was a visitor from space I would definitely give them something as a peace offering as I think an individual cave man would be far more likely to tear me apart than the average joe of the 21st century. If they weren't humanoid I would than I would rather not meat them in person. Sending a probe or message first would be preferable. Who knows. Maybe the sent of humans is there equivalent to "I want to rape, pillage, burn your civilization then say nasty things about you behind your back to other alien species".

This is a truly interesting thought. I would say if we were threatened by aliens, the world would come together and defend our planet. But if they were friendly, how amazing that would be!
Are you from Scotland? Just asking a question. I'm not trying to be mean.

There'd certainly be a portion of our population with screen names like Meatsword2007 who'd stalk the underage aliens, then get invited over to their house for some fun and games, only to met by Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC. Fun and hijinks would ensue as we watched the pedophiles try to explain why they travelled 20,000 light years to a 13 year old aliens house with condoms, lube, strawberries and chocolate.

I'm afraid that any society advanced enough to get here would blow away our culture even with kindness. They would be so far ahead of us that it would be as if an isolated culture out in the deep forest meets up with downtown New York.
Another thought! What about those people with the 70% best answer rate.... People to think about.

if aliens decided to communicate via the internet, they would just blow up the whole planet and use the space for thier intergalatic highway, thinking that there is no intelligence on this planet. have you seen some of the things people are saying here?
