it's already dried! only noticed it after my pen had been leaking all the way round town!

You might be in for some problems with this.. but you might try using methylated spirit on stain, then wash in cold water to which biological detergent has been added.

Try Acetone it works pretty well on a lot of fabrics. Polyester is a difficult
fabric to clean and difficult to get stink out of.

Ball point ink dissolves in alcohol, but the dye in methylated spirit will leave a mark. Use surgical spirit (rubbing alcohol in the US). Your pharmacist will sell you some if you can convince him you're not going to drink it.

Milk usually removes ink, jus leave it to soak in then wash as normal on low temp.

Spray hairspray on it then immediately rinse it in clean cold water. Trust me, it will work.
