thx in advance..im trying to figure out what year new york was officially established..but it says it was settled by dutch in one year..but english took it away in another..and since new york is named after duke of york..i want to no if hes english or dutch.

I just looked it up for you, 2nd. son of George III, so, definitely English!

New York was not named after the Duke of York ! It was named after the town/city of York in Yorkshire in Jolly Old England.
Same as NEW Jersey , NEW Hampshire .
